After the completion of the Atlantic Avenue and Fort Hill projects

in the 1870s, the city had met its goals of creating a bigger space

for commerce. The Financial District had been expanded, and in

the early 1900s, another landscaped circle called Fort Hill Square

was built to commemorate where Fort Hill once stood.
