Long Wharf IV

The wharf also served as a strategic military location during
the Revolutionary War. A 1770 Paul Revere engraving depicts
the arrival of British naval forces in 1768 as they tried to enforce
the Townshend Acts in the Colonies.  Long Wharf was also the
location where British General Howe retreated from Boston in
1776 during the Revolutionary War.
