State House II

But before the State House was built, the three mountains of Beacon went
through many changes.  First, the Trimountain area made up the Shawmut
Peninsula that was home to the early settlers of Massachusetts.  At the foot
of three Beacon Hills (Mount Vernon, Beacon Hill, and Pemberton) was
Trimont Street, referencing the three hills in the Trimountain range. Renamed
Tremont Street, the same road exists at the foot of present-day Beacon Hill.
